Brief Introduction
Mr Zhu is a Senior Partner, Global Board Member of Beijing Dentons Law Offices LLP and in charge of Dentons’ global international arbitration practice group.
Having practised for 27 years, Mr Zhu started his career in 1992 at an Intermediate People’s Court as a judge trying commercial cases, experience that has contributed significantly to his success as a leading litigator and arbitrator.
Having previously focused on civil litigation and criminal defense as both a lawyer and a judge, Mr Zhu has expanded into the area of international business and international dispute resolution following China’s accession to the WTO. He has lectured at many seminars and conferences in China and abroad and also teaches law at universities as a visiting professor.
Mr Zhu advises both Chinese and foreign clients on cross border investment matters focusing on infrastructure projects in middle east, north Africa, west Asia and Asia pacific. He is a leading practitioner in international arbitration area and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
He has built up considerable international and offshore experience. Mr Zhu has around 17 years of experience in resolving international disputes, ranging from sitting as arbitrator to mediator or in other forms of ADR. He is on the lists of arbitrators or neutrals of MARC, HKIAC, LCIA, SCC and VIAC. He has also been involved in many mediation cases as counsel and as mediator, mainly in the fields of investment and business law, either domestic or international.
Significant recent cases as counsel, arbitrator and mediator have included large claims arising from share transfer, energy and infrastructure projects, EPC contracts, public procurement, consulting services, international trade of goods, etc.
