Brief Introduction
Since retiring from Allen Overy in 2011, Andrew has sat as an independent arbitrator dealing with a broad range of commercial disputes covering not only power, energy, infrastructure and projects matters, but also finance and general commercial trading. Since 1999 he has also acted as counsel in numerous arbitrations across the globe, and under all the major arbitration rules and institutions, including AIAC, ICC, ICSID, HKIAC, SIAC, CIETAC, LCIA.
Andrew was previously Head of Dispute Resolution Asia for Allen Overy, based in Hong Kong, where he built up a wealth of experience of arbitration disputes in Hong Kong and Mainland China. In 2003 he was appointed a Deputy Registrar of the High Court of Hong Kong. He was author of Enforcement of Arbitration Awards in China for Sweet & Maxwell's Arbitration in China, A Practical Guide. He sat as a Hong Kong Council Member for the ICC, and was part of the Hong Kong Department of Justice committee on reform of the Arbitration Ordinance of Hong Kong. He was a member of the Law Reform Commission of Hong Kong, and of the Law Society Council. He also acts as a Training Consultant teaching commercial arbitration.
