Brief Introduction
Abinash Barik is an International Case Counsel at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and a Member of AIAC YPG Maritime Arbitration Core Committee. He is involved in the case management of arbitration and construction adjudication disputes.
Mr. Barik is an Indian-qualified disputes practitioner since 2014 and has worked in various jurisdictions such as India, United Kingdom, Germany and Malaysia. He read law at KIIT University, India with specialization in Business Law Hons., obtained his LLM in Comparative & International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), and also received a full-merit scholarship on Private International Law at The Hague Academy of International Law. He also attended the Master Class on International Commercial Arbitration at Cologne Academies of Arbitration and Mediation. Presently, he is admitted as a doctoral student at Julius-Maximilians-Universität of Würzburg (JMU), Germany under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wolfram Buckwitz. He also contributed to Redfern and Hunter on International Arbitration (6th edition, OUP) published in 2015.
In United Kingdom, Mr. Barik worked as a Research Assistant to Prof. Martin Hunter at Essex Court Chambers, London. Subsequently, in Germany, he practiced in the International Arbitration Group (IAG) of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Frankfurt. In India, he practiced in the Dispute Resolution & Litigation Practice of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, New Delhi and subsequently as a sole-practitioner at Chambers of Abinash Barik, Bhubaneswar.
