Ms. Yang joined in the firm in 2013. Prior to that, Ms. Yang worked as an associate in Jun He Law Offices Beijing Office and Haiwen & Partners Shanghai Office. Highlighted below are clients Ms. Yang has advised or defended in such sectors as real estate, biotechnology, hi-tech, and automobiles.
As counsel to a property owner of a landmark building in Beijing which is valued over USD 1.2 billion, she has defended the client’s interests in various proceedings in China involving the property owner, a developer, foreign and domestic creditors and various other parties. Ms. Yang also works closely with foreign counsels in strategizing and aligning positions in over 50 parallel proceedings in China as well as in several overseas jurisdictions.
Ms. Yang advised a global leading biotechnology company headquartered in Denmark, on administrative law proceedings concerning the validity of an invention patent. During the retrial proceedings, the PRC Supreme Court upheld the client’s claims and set aside the first and second instance judgments which invalidated the patent. The case has been voted one of the top 10 cases of the PRC Patent Reexamination Board in 2012 and one of the top 10 IP cases of the PRC Supreme Court in 2016. The judgement is believed to set a guidance example for practitioners to protect protein invention patents in the biotech area in China.
Ms. Yang has successfully represented a domestic solar hi-tech company in a large sales dispute against its Japanese supplier before the HKIAC, obtaining a favorable settlement for the client.
She also represented a major domestic automobile company in a series of contract disputes against several Egypt companies before the ICC, the CIETAC and domestic courts. The cases involve highly complex procedural and substantive issues with hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars at stake.
