Brief Introduction
Andrew Goddard QC specialises in international arbitration concerning the law of commercial obligations, and professional negligence, particularly in the context of disputes concerning major infrastructure projects, including IT projects. He has had much involvement in disputes related to large construction and engineering projects, telecoms and energy matters, including PPP projects, and acts for contractors, professionals and employers, including state agencies.
Andrew is described as “a creative thinker” and “very analytical” by Chambers and Partners and he is strategic in his approach to the prosecution and resolution of disputes. He believes that the process can be improved by increased party collaboration, where sensible to do so, and early identification of the real issues, thereby improving the client’s overall experience and, crucially, outcomes. He has acted in numerous disputes proceeding under the auspices of the ICC, the HKIAC, SIAC, the LCIA and the LMAA. He is familiar with the various FIDIC forms as well as NEC and more traditional forms of contract. He also has experience of investor-state disputes proceeding before the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
He is an accredited civil and commercial mediator, and is regularly appointed as arbitrator and adjudicator. He has also been admitted on an ad hoc basis to the Hong Kong Bar, the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago and the Tanzanian Bar.
