Omar Puertas joined the firm’s international litigation and arbitration team at the Barcelona office in 2000. From 2002 to 2003, he worked in the international arbitration team at the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, where he was involved in major international arbitration disputes involving Latin American parties (AAA, ICC). He moved to Shanghai in 2007 to set up the first Cuatrecasas office in Asia. As managing partner of the Shanghai office until 2019, he consolidated the advisory services for inbound and outbound investments in China and Asia and abroad. He also developed a strong dispute resolution practice with an Asian, European and Latin American dimension (CIETAC, SHIAC, SIAC, HKIAC). He is a member of the panel of arbitrators of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center. He lectures on commercial disputes resolution, participates in moot arbitrations and writes about arbitration on a regular basis.
