Brief Introduction
Stuart is the head of the ginternational arbitration group at the leading international law firm Simmons & Simmons LLP. Stuart conducts arbitrations as counsel and arbitrator around the globe from South Africa to Russia and London to Bejing. Stuart gained his law degree in Australia and has a PhD in international Law from Cambridge University and trained at Herbert Smith before working at Linklaters and Simmons. Stuart was a member of the ICC Court of Arbitration and is currently a member of the ICC Commision on Arbitration.
Stuart has conducted arbitrations under both common law and civil law in England, Hong Kong SAR and the PRC, mainland Europe (including Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary and the Czech h Republic), the Middle East, Africa and Australia. He has acted for and against parties from the UK, mainland Europe, Central Europe, Asia, North and South America, Australia and Africa.
Stuart has also acted as counsel in numerous investment treaty arbitrations both for States and investors. Recently he led the development of the Expedited Arbitration Procedure for financial services disputes for the London Arbitration Club.
