Janet is an independent arbitrator based in Toronto at Arbitration Place, in London at Outer Temple Chambers, and in Sydney, Australia. She is a professor of law (past associate dean) at Osgoode Hall Law School, a member of the Ontario Bar, and a licensed legal consultant of the New York State Bar.
Janet has served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and chair in ICC, ICDR, DIAC, HKIAC and SIAC-administered, and in ad hoc arbitrations in a variety of seats. Her matters cover a range of industries including construction, heavy equipment, M&A, shareholder, distribution, intellectual property, environmental, finance and employment. She is a member of a number of arbitral panels including the ACICA, AIAC, BVI, CAA, CIETAC, HKIAC, ICDR, JCAA, KCAB, Shanghai, Shenzhen, SIAC and Ukrainian Chamber panels. She has a good working knowledge of Spanish and French.
Janet authors Canada’s main text on private international law and has authored or edited many other books and articles in the field; and she has served in more than fifty expert consulting and testifying mandates in crossborder commercial and arbitration-related matters.
