Peter Bird is a Managing Director with Berkeley Research Group (BRG), based in Singapore. He has testified widely as an expert witness in litigation and arbitrations, in Europe and Asia. Industries on which he has testified include gas production, nuclear power, electricity distribution, fast-moving toys, renewable energy and motor vehicles. He also has experience as a client in an arbitration context.
Before joining BRG, he was a senior investment banker and advised on numerous multi-billion dollar M&A transactions across the world. He also advised governments at all levels on privatisation and infrastructure development.
He has extensive Board experience, including being director of three infrastructure companies and independent director of a listed New Zealand utility. He is currently a member of the Advisory Board of a UK-based technology start-up company with over 150 patents. He has also been an Adviser to a two private equity funds.
He has extensive experience of China, having advised Chinese companies on acquisitions and having assisted an Africa-focussed development company on accessing Chinese equity and debt finance. He has been active in Malaysia, advising on financing infrastructure projects and advising Malaysian clients on M&A transactions.
