Brief Introduction
Roman is an arbitration specialist with extensive experience in national and cross-border matters, with particular emphasis on the energy and oil and gas sectors. He holds a Ph. D in Conflict of Laws and is a visiting Professor at Clare College and Cambridge University (2012 - present), where he regularly participates in the Arbitration and Civil Justice Forum. Additionally, Roman is an arbitrator of the Arbitration Court for Sport at the Russian Olympic Committee and an editor of the International Commercial Arbitration Review (Moscow).
Roman is an English solicitor and also qualified as an Advocate in Russia. In recent years Roman has advised on a multi-million dollar ICSID investment treaty arbitration against the Republic of Kazakhstan, and acted in LCIA, ICC, AAA and MKAS arbitrations.
He is named a “rising star” by Chambers and is also highly ranked by Legal 500. Finally, Roman was on the Best Lawyers list in the field of litigation and dispute resolution compiled by the Vedomosti, the leading business paper in Russia (equivalent of FT).
