Brief Introduction
Trip.com is a global travel service provider, offering services in 24 languages across 39 countries and regions. Mr. Matsuzaki serves as the Legal Director for Trip.com International Travel Japan, the company's Japanese subsidiary.
He joined Trip.com in January 2024 and has since managed legal matters related to Japanese law, including regulatory issues, consumer claims, promotions, advertisements, and other compliance aspects for Trip.com’s platform. He collaborates closely with the headquarters in Shanghai and other regions. Trip.com currently has legal teams in Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Amsterdam, and Edinburgh.
Before joining Trip.com, Mr. Matsuzaki served as in-house counsel for a Japanese trading company for over a decade. He handled domestic and international transactions, M&A, joint ventures, trademark acquisition and licensing, real estate, litigation, and dispute resolution (including arbitration in China), with a focus on the food and fashion industries.
During his time at the previous company, he spent about five years in China (four years in Shanghai and one year in Beijing), managing contract reviews and local legal affairs. He also acted as a liaison between the subsidiaries in China and the headquarters in Japan in order to ensure smooth communication.
He is a qualified Japanese lawyer, graduated from Keio University Law School in 2007, and is fluent in Chinese, English, and Japanese.
