Omar Alvarado Escobar is a partner at Diez Canseco Abogados departments of Intellectual Property, Competition and Data Privacy. Having worked as the team leader of the technical staff at the Peruvian Intellectual and Competition Authority (INDECOPI) and as a senior lawyer in two sizable, prestigious full-service firms in Colombia and Peru, he has over 15 years of public and private experience as an attorney, handling contentious cases and providing preventative advice to top-tier companies (some of them part of Fortune500 list). The most prominent legal directories, including Chambers & Partners and Legal500, have acknowledged his leadership in the field of intellectual property and competition practitioners, and he has been ranked continuously in these directories over the years.
Regarding his academic credentials, he holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru as well as a Master of Science in Regulation from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and completed postgraduate programs on regulation, technology, competition and public law in prestigious Spanish and Peruvian universities. Omar Alvarado Escobar is strongly engaged in teaching activities, being currently a professor of competition law as well as advertising law courses in the undergraduate and postgraduate departments of the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas. Additionally, he is frequently invited to appear in conferences, workshops and moot courts hosted by Peruvian universities, non-profit entities, trade associations and international non-governmental organizations such as the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), where he is an active member of the Competition Committee.
