Brief Introduction
Dr. CHEN Fuyong is the Deputy Secretary-General of the Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Court (BAC/BIAC) and the International Court Member of the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA). He is a qualified PRC lawyer with an LLB from China University of Political Science and Law, an LLM from Peking University and a PhD from Tsinghua University. Dr. Chen was a visiting researcher (2007-08) at the Law School of UC-Berkeley and the Vice-President(2013-23)of Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG).
Dr. Chen served as the General Editor (2013-23) of Beijing Arbitration Quarterly and has published over ten journal articles on commercial dispute resolution. His dissertation titled “The Unfinished Transformation: An Empirical Analysis of the Current Status and Future Trends of China’s Arbitration Institutions” was awarded 2010 Beijing Excellent Doctoral Dissertation. He is the co-author of Chinese Arbitration Law(LexisNexis 2015)and China Arbitration Handbook (Sweet & Maxwell 2011). He is also the Chinese co-translator of Gary Born’s International Arbitration: Law and Practice and Christopher R. Drahozal and Richard W. Naimark’s Towards a Science of International Arbitration: Collected Empirical Research.
Dr. Chen has extensive experience in handling various commercial disputes through arbitration and mediation and is a regular speaker at international conferences and seminars.
