Brief Introduction
Murphy is an arbitration partner at the Hong Kong office of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer. He has extensive experience in handling complex cross-border commercial and construction disputes, and represents clients from a wide range of sectors, particularly power, infrastructure, energy and private capital. He regularly acts as counsel in international arbitration under various institutional rules (including KCAB, HKIAC, ICC, SIAC and VIAC) and has been appointed as arbitrator.
Recognised as Future Leader in Lexology Index: Arbitration in 2023-2026, Murphy is a regular speaker on arbitration topics and has taught international arbitration at Tsinghua University and University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Society of Construction Law and a former member of Delos Dispute Resolution's ROAP Asia faculty, the HK45 Committee at HKIAC and the ICC Belt and Road Commission.
Murphy is triple-qualified in England & Wales, Hong Kong and Australia (New South Wales). He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
