Mr. C.M. Chan has been the President of The Law Society since 2021. He currently serves on a number of statutory bodies, including the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) Disciplinary Panel, the Land Survey Disciplinary Board Panel, the Law Reform Commission and the Trade and Industry Advisory Board. He is an external examiner of the Department of Professional Legal Education, The University of Hong Kong, and the School of Law, City University of Hong Kong. Mr. Chan is also an adjunct professor of the Department of Accountancy, Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. Mr. Chan is qualified to practise as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England and Wales. He is also a Civil Celebrant, Registered Financial Planner, and Chartered Tax Advisor. Mr. Chan is now a General Counsel of an investment company, a part-time consultant of a local law firm and the Head of the Centre for the Rule of Law of local think tank Hong Kong Policy Research Institute. Mr Chan is also a mediator of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, a consultant of the Arbitration Commission of the Qianhai Court, and an arbitrator of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration.
