The purposes of the summit are to promote China's international traderelationships, as well as to increase mutual understanding betweenChinese and Western culture. As the largest developing nation andeconomy, the current and future legal environment in China has cometo the attention of the entire world. The 2014 Summit was both a platformfor promoting and ensuring harmonious economic and technicalexchanges and a great opportunity to present China's "soft power"to the world. This is the third time we are hosting the Annual Summiton Commercial Dispute Resolution in China. Following the pattern ofthe 2014 Summit, this year's event will share with the participants thelatest development in commercial arbitration and mediation in Chinain a number of specialised fields, and it will also make some predictionson the future legal environment in China. According to the lateststatistics, BAC has received 1,015 new cases that together involvean estimate of RMB 17.5 billion in 2015. Since its establishment in1995, BAC has administered over 25,000 cases. The sum in disputehas reached RMB 140 billion with the highest claim amount of RMB 10 billion. The 2015 Summit will cover a greater number of sectors than thatof 2013 and 2014, including (inter alia) arbitration, mediation, constructionproject, real estate, intellectual property (IP) rights, energy,investment, international trade and finance, etc. This conference willbe held for one day and in form of public conference, which will focuson commercial disputes in China and offer an overview of availabledispute resolution mechanisms.
