Gillian Paredes is an outstanding lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in the legal field, both in the corporate sector and in prestigious national and international law firms. A graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and with a Master of Laws (LLM) from Columbia University in New York, Gillian has built a solid professional career that combines expertise in corporate law, finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and commercial dispute resolution.
She began her career at Estudio Olaechea and then moved to New York, where she worked at renowned international law firms such as Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal (currently, SNR Denton) and Shearman & Sterling. Upon her return to Peru, she joined Estudio Muñiz, where she became a Senior Partner in the financial law practice area, advising clients from diverse sectors, including extractive activities, construction and retail, in high impact transactions. Her professional excellence has been recognized by leading publications such as Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.
In 2019, Gillian made the leap to the corporate world, serving as Legal Manager at Pluspetrol Perú Corporation S.A., operator of the Camisea Consortium, where she led highly complex legal processes. Subsequently, she assumed the position of Legal Affairs Manager at Corporación Aceros Arequipa S.A., a company with presence in seven countries in the region.
Currently, she is General Counsel and Compliance Officer at Luz del Sur, one of the leading energy distribution companies in Peru, where she leads a team of 24 lawyers and oversees key legal and regulatory aspects of the business.
