Colin Ong KC has acted as counsel or sat as arbitrator in over 400 international commercial and investment arbitrations across multiple jurisdictions. He is regularly commended by directories for his expertise in both Civil as well as Common law. He is listed by Lexology as a Thought Leader in Arbitration, Construction and Litigation since 2019. In 2024, he was re-appointed by China’s Chief Justice to sit on a second 4-year team as a member of the PRC’s Supreme People’s Court ICEC.
Dr. Ong was the first ASEAN national lawyer appointed English Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) and to be appointed as Master of the Bench of the Inner Temple (2010). He is currently a visiting law professor at several Civil law jurisdictions including Chuo University (Japan); Universitas Padjadjaran (Indonesia); and SWUPL (China).
In addition to being a busy arbitrator and chair in cases in Asia and Europe, Dr. Ong regularly acts as lead counsel for international law firm teams as well as other Silks in large arbitration . He was the successful lead counsel in Vietnam_Oil_and_Gas_Group v Joint_Stock_Company [2025] SGCA 50. The Singapore Court of Appeal decision was one of the contenders for "Most_Important_Reported_Decision_of_2025" at this year’s GAR Awards 2026.
